Jaxson Dart seems to have avoided the worst-case scenario following his knee injury in the New York Giants' 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
Dart was coming off a strong performance in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. It presented excitement for what fans could expect from him under head coach John Harbaugh.
However, his second game ended abruptly. He sustained a knee injury five minutes into the game as he didn't return for the rest of the night. Despite this, he remained on the sidelines under his own power as NFL insider Ian Rapoport provided some optimistic news about his actual injury.
âÂÂ#Giants QB Jaxson Dart is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL based on the initial exams, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. X-Rays were negative and the MRI is coming Tuesday. Dart is expected to miss some time, though in general, positive news,â Rapoport wrote. âÂÂJaxson Dart stayed on the sidelines the entire game and per @JordanRaanan, Dart wanted to re-enter the game.âÂÂ
How Jaxson Dart, Giants played against Rams
Jaxson Dart hopes to be back on the field soon. The Giants greatly value him in their style of play, needing him to be as healthy as possible.
Los Angeles controlled the game from start to finish. They scored in all four quarters as New York battled through injuries, especially after Dart left the game with a knee injury in the first quarter.
Jameis Winston was unable to get comfortable leading the offense upon replacing Dart following the latter's injury. He only completed 11 out of 27 passes for 111 yards and an interception.
Cam Skattebo tried to get some plays going in New York's favor but to no avail. He ended the night with 12 carries for 36 yards while catching four passes for 19 yards.
Darnell Mooney led all players in receiving yardage, making two catches for 48 yards. Meanwhile, Isaiah Likely led in catches with five for 33 yards.
The Giants will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 as kickoff commences on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. ET.
