The New York Giants endured a frightening moment Monday night when starting quarterback Jaxson Dart exited their Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams with an apparent knee injury. With Dart ruled out for the remainder of the contest, head coach John Harbaugh provided no immediate clarity on the severity of the injury. This has left New York anxiously awaiting further medical evaluation. Speaking to reporters during halftime at SoFi Stadium, Harbaugh was asked about Dart’s condition but quickly shifted his attention back to the game.

“We're just focused on the second half, trying to find a way to win the game,” Harbaugh said. “We're not thinking about that right now.”

Dart was injured after landing awkwardly on his leg. He was initially evaluated in the medical tent before being escorted to the locker room. Jameis Winston took over quarterback duties for the Giants. Meanwhile, the organization prepared for additional testing to determine the extent of Dart’s knee issue.

The injury casts a cloud over an important season for Dart. He entered 2026 as New York’s unquestioned starter under Harbaugh. Selected 25th overall by the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft, Dart took over the starting job in Week 4 of his first season. He quickly established himself as a dangerous dual-threat quarterback. Dart finished 2025 with 2,272 passing yards, 15 touchdown passes, and 487 rushing yards. His nine rushing touchdowns also set a new Giants single-season quarterback record. Dart opened 2026 in spectacular fashion. He threw for 230 yards and accounting for three touchdowns in New York’s Week 1 victory over Dallas. Now, the Giants must wait for medical answers before determining what comes next.
