The Georgia Bulldogs will be without one key running back in Chauncey Bowens against Auburn. Bowens, who leads the team with six rushing touchdowns, was ruled out earlier this week due to a calf injury.
But there is a bright side for the Bulldogs. Their backfield will welcome back Nate Frazier, who is expected to start, per ESPN's Pete Thamel. Frazier had missed two of the past three games due to a rib injury. But even after missing two games and having just two carries against Vanderbilt, Frazier remains second on the team with 211 yards. He also has five rushing touchdowns, one behind Bowens.
Frazier's return will be a welcome addition to a Bulldogs running attack that remains quite deep and talented. The duo of Dwight Phillips Jr. and Bo Walker has stepped up in recent games amid Frazier's absence. The two combined for 189 rushing yards in Georgia's big 20-17 win over Alabama.
Article Continues BelowFrazier and the rest of the Georgia ground game will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing an Auburn run defense that has given up some big games already this season. The Tigers were torched by Florida's Jadan Baugh for 162 yards and three touchdowns, as well as Tennessee's DeSean Bishop, who went for 220 yards and three scores.
If Georgia can get as much joy on the ground as those teams against Auburn, quarterback Gunner Stockton likely won't need to do quite as much in the game. But as he showed with his impressive performance against Alabama, he is more than capable of delivering when needed.
