Florida State's loss to No. 3 Miami was painful enough on its own. Then came the injury news. Running back Ousmane Kromah will be out for an extended period, a major blow for a Seminoles team that is now 3-4 overall and 1-3 in ACC play.
The Seminoles lost 43-35 in double overtime. Miami's Darian Mensah threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, including a 3-yard strike to Malachi Toney in the second overtime. Florida State entered as a 21-point underdog but repeatedly erased deficits and tied the game at 14, 21 and again in regulation.
Duce Robinson delivered a 75-yard touchdown that tied the game with 2:49 left in regulation. He added a 20-yard score to open the first overtime.
Florida State appeared to give itself another chance when Ashton Daniels connected on a fourth-and-21, 36-yard heave that would have made it 43-41. A holding penalty brought it back. The game ended with Bryce Fitzgerald's end-zone interception, amid FSU's claims that the final play should have been a touchdown.

Kromah was carted off late in the second quarter with a left ankle injury after a 9-yard run to the Miami 2-yard line. He had 14 carries for 44 yards at the time. An air cast was placed on his left leg, and he did not return.
Daniels scored on the next play to tie the game at 14-14 at halftime. The team never had its top rusher again.
Quintrevion Wisner and Amari Thomas would be in line for more touches. Florida State will now have to find a way to replace its lead back during a difficult stretch of the schedule.
Reports during the game described the injury as an ankle or left leg problem, and no official diagnosis had been released in the sources reviewed. The extended-absence update makes the loss to Miami even more painful.
