Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish did not get the calls late in their 28-24 loss to the BYU Cougars. In their final play of the game, a potential pass interference involving Irish receiver Jaden Greathouse wasn't called. Asked to comment about the controversial play post-game, Marcus Freeman declined to do so.

“It was chaos, man,” Freeman said, per Pete Sampson of The Athletic.

Freeman added that the call to throw a fade to Greathouse, a throw they hadn't hit almost the entire game, was because of BYU's pressure from that side. It took a while for Freeman and the Irish to make those adjustments after a rough first half where they fell behind 21-10. To their credit, they fought back in the second half and even took the lead 24-21, but they literally ran out of time in the end.

That's because the pass interference no-call wasn't the only thing that didn't go Notre Dame's way. They should've gotten another play off as the pass intended for Greathouse hit the turf with one second left. Unfortunately, the referees made the error of not putting that time on the game clock, and even the Big 12 admitted after the game that it was a mistake.

The performance of Greathouse was one of the few bright spots for the Irish in the game. Greathouse finally got his senior season on track as he finished with eight catches for 125 yards. In his previous five games, he had combined for 11 catches and 138 yards. But overall, it was still a disappointing loss that will have major ramifications on their postseason hopes.
