The Miami Hurricanes survived against rival Florida State on Saturday. Miami needed an interception in double overtime to put away FSU and take the 43-35 victory. The win took Miami to 6-0 on the year.

Now, AP Poll voters are rewarding Miami for their 6-0 start, per Nick Kosko of On3.

Miami is ranked number one for the first time since the 2002 season. That year, they opened up the season as the number one team in the nation. They would drop to second in Week 11, but move right back to the top spot the next week. The Hurricanes finished the season ranked second after a double-overtime loss to Ohio State in the BCS National Championship.

Meanwhile, BYU climbed up to second in the AP Top 25. It is their highest ranking since 1984, when the Cougars won the national championship. Ohio State, fresh off a victory over Indiana, moved to third. Notre Dame dropped to fourth after their loss to BYU, while Georgia rounds out the Top 5. Indiana is ranked sixth.

Meanwhile, three undefeated teams round out the top ten. Texas Tech clocks in at eight, while UCLA is ninth, and Utah is tenth. The other undefeated team in the nation, James Madison, was in the other receiving-votes category.

Kentucky moved up the rankings again this week, sitting 12th, one spot ahead of Alabama. Alabama is the only team to have defeated Kentucky this year. Texas dropped to 19th after a second straight loss, while just one non-power conference team is ranked. Boise State, which is 5-1 on the year, sits ranked 21st.
