Former AEW TBS Champion Maya World has now been reportedly sidelined and ruled out of action. Earlier this year, at AEW All In 2026, World faced off against Persephone with her title on the line.
However, interference from a returning Britt Baker cost World her championship. Now, despite 2026 being hailed as World's year, she has now received a major disappointing update on her in-ring status. As per a new report from Fightful Select, World is now set to be sidelined after receiving medical treatment last week.
The report claimed that World is now out of action and underwent a procedure last week. While the details of the procedure are not public, Fightful expects her to be back in action very soon.
Maya was the TBS Champion for 35 days until Persephone defeated her at All In LondonâÂÂs Zero Hour show. She most recently took part in the Rebel Heart edition of AEW Dynamite, joining forces with Hyan and Thunder Rosa to face Hikaru Shida, Persephone, and Britt Baker, but ended up losing. As of writing, there are no confirmed updates on World's return.

Maya World signed with AEW alongside her tag team partner Hyan at the end of 2025. The duo reportedly stepped up at the last minute during an episode of AEW Collision, when two other veteran wrestlers pulled out of that show.
Shortly after, World was trusted with the big spot, as she replaced an injured Sareee in the 2026 Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Later, she defeated Skye Blue, Athena, and faced Mercedes Moné in the tournament final at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
