Vernell Brown III is making strides as he looks to be back for the Florida Gators' Week 6 matchup against South Carolina this weekend.

Brown is going through the second year of his collegiate career with the Gators. He has emerged as a key target in the offense, helping Florida enjoy one of its best starts in Jon Sumrall's first year as the program's head coach.

However, a knee injury sidelined Brown for Florida's Week 5 loss to the Missouri Tigers. They missed his presence in the offense as they couldn't keep up with Missouri in the 45-17 loss. Despite this hiccup, Florida might have its standout receiver back in a week.

“Florida star WR Vernell Brown III (knee) practiced for the Gators today, including in team reps. He's still not 100-percent and will be a game-time decision for South Carolina after missing the game at Missouri last week,” football insider Pete Thamel wrote on Friday.
