Coach Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs are ranked second in the country and preparing to put it on the line against Alabama in Week 6, a game that made it on President Donald Trump's itinerary. Smart's team will be without a key running back, as well as a key receiver heading into a crucial game that could decide the SEC title.

The receiver in question is starter Isiah Canion, who has been ruled out of the Alabama game according to Pete Nakos of On3.com. Nakos added that Alabama tight end Josh Ford is questionable after suffering undergoing arm surgery following the Crimson Tide's game against Mississippi State.

Canion has three receptions for 28 yards this season, far down the list of top receivers on Smart's team. The two teams' game is being threatened by Tropical Storm Isaias. The Bulldogs' passing game has been strong this season with Gunner Stockton passing for over 1,000 yards so far. Craig Dandridge, Talyn Taylor, Sacovie-White Helton and others have helped Stockton to produce a strong passing season so far that has coincided with over 100 yards rushing on the year.

The two teams split their 2025 series one game apiece with Georgia beating Kalen DeBoer's Tide 28-7 to win the SEC Championship Game. Canion, a 6-foot-4 junior, came over from Georgia Tech this offseason and still hasn't gotten a taste of his team's rivalry with Alabama. Canion might get another crack at the Tide later this year, but for now, he is planning to rest in hopes of improving his health for later this season.
