The prevailing opinion is that Jaylen Brown will have a colossal chip on his shoulder this upcoming season, but he is seeking revenge against more than just the Boston Celtics. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP and new Philadelphia 76ers wing recently caught a jab from Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards, who poked fun at the hairlines of both Brown and LeBron James during am Adidas commercial in September. He paid for those jokes on Friday.

While streaming live on Twitch with Sixers teammate VJ Edgecombe, Brown went right for the jugular. “{Adidas} needs to get my boy some condoms,” the two-time All-NBA Second-Team selection joked, eliciting a big reaction from Edgecombe.

“VJ do you have a hand in this, cause you with adidas…you need to give my boy some condoms.”

Edwards had four babies with four different women, and did so in the span of only a year. He has found himself in multiple child support cases. Brown is hardly the first person to use this controversy to roast the Timberwolves cornerstone, but one has to wonder what the reaction will be when Philly and Minnesota collide in January.

The NBA would obviously prefer if Edwards' off-court activities remain out of the limelight, as he is one of the likeliest candidates to succeed LeBron James as the face of the league. Actions have consequences, though. Despite providing financial assistance, Edwards did not seek custody of all of his children. He married longtime girlfriend Shannon Jackson in July.
