Special teams make special plays. That was certainly the case for Zach Kittley's FAU Owls as they made football history during their Week 5 matchup against the Texas Southern Tigers on Saturday night.
Kittley is going through the second year of his head coaching career with the Owls. Following a 4-8 record in his debut season, Kittley looks to lead the program to their first winning season since 2020.
They are off to a strong start, going 3-1 after the first four games. FAU hosted an FCS squad in Texas Southern, who were winless going into the contest.
Article Continues BelowThat didn't stop the Owls from being relentless on offense. The team's first two offensive drives of the game saw them score back-to-back kick return touchdowns. Running back Leonard Farrow was responsible for both scores, etching himself into the record books in many ways.
FAU made program history by having the most kick return touchdowns in a season. Not only that, but they also achieved a rare feat of scoring back-to-back kick return touchdowns on consecutive drives. No other team in history had the privilege of accomplishing this feat.
