The Las Vegas Aces defeated the Indiana Fever in their recent postseason series to advance in the WNBA playoffs. It was a competitive series that saw plenty of good basketball, but it also led to some off-the-court storylines. Sophie Cunningham posted a video in reference to an incident between A'ja Wilson and a Fever fan, but the video backfired as the Aces ultimately won the series. Speaking of that moment, Wilson was not suspended despite walking over toward the fan. The decision against suspending her was a controversial decision by the WNBA, and Cunningham addressed it during the latest episode of her podcast, No Hesitation Show.
“If you want to get technical, that could have caused for a suspension,” Cunningham said. “But you know, she's like the LeBron James of our league and so of course they're not going to suspend her… Something should have happened there.”
Cunningham went on to say that she believes there is a “double standard.”
“I think there's definitely a double standard… We wanted her to play. I think that makes for good basketball, I'm not asking for that. If we would have won and she wouldn't have been there, I don't think it would've been fair. I think we would have gotten a lot of backlash from that.”

“For someone pointing, and saying the foul was on you, like grow up. I'm over it. Grow up,” Cunningham added. “And then people are saying that me going on TikTok and saying it's a year for the point, like who would have thought that someone pointing would just cause so many people to go into a mental spiral.
“Like that says a lot more about you and your mental status than anything that the fans are doing. So, I'm over it.”
It will be interesting to see if Wilson responds to Cunningham.
