The Baltimore Ravens are looking to add some insurance at quarterback amid tough breaks in the position lately.

With Lamar Jackson seemingly expected to miss the rest of the 2026 NFL season due to an injury and his chief backup, Tyler Huntley, also banged up, the Ravens will be relying on third-stringer and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano to take care of business under center when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a Thursday Night Football showdown in Week 9.

Fagnano, however, is also dealing with an ankle injury, which could potentially force him out of Week 9.

Before that game against the Jaguars at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, the Ravens have reportedly worked out another quarterback.

“And as the Ravens' QB carousel continues to spin: The team worked out former UFL MVP Adrian Martinez today,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero of The Ringer shared via a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Martinez did not hear his name called in the 2023 NFL draft, but was later signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Lions. He also had stints with the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers. He has played only one game in the NFL to date, and that was with the 49ers in 2025, when he attempted just a pass in a Week 9 game against the New York Giants on the road.

Martinez had more time on the field as a pro during his tenure in the United Football League (UFL) with the Birmingham Stallions, where he won the league's MVP award in 2024.

Before turning pro, Martinez played for four years with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and finished his college football career with the Kansas State Wildcats in 2022.

The news on Martinez comes on the heels of the Ravens signing quarterback Kedon Slovis from the Green Bay Packers practice squad.
