ESPN ran into a huge roadblock on Wednesday.
The show NBA Today never made it to air, with ESPN instead displaying a ticker that told viewers that the show was experiencing technical difficulties.
Wednesday's episode was slated to be broadcast on ESPN2 with ESPN's main channel instead showing a live MLB game.
As a result of being unable to get on air, the network quickly pivoted to showing a re-run of Big Day with Peter Schrager, which was in the previous spot on the running order.
Usually when technically difficulties occur - which does happen when live television is at play - disruptions usually don't last too long.
Therefore, it was fairly unprecedented that the entire hour of programming was unable to go ahead.
The first half-an-hour of the Big Day re-air included an infographic that showed that NBA Today was"currently experiencing technical difficulties" before the plug was ultimately pulled.
The infographic then informed viewers that it would return on Thursday at its regularly scheduled time.
It has since emerged that the difficulties were related to issues involving the audio, according to Awful Announcing.
Of course, NBA Today has recently undergone some changes, with the show moving from ESPN's L.A. Live studio space to the NFL Network studios in Inglewood.
This move came after ESPN's $2 billion acquisition of NFL Network back in February of this year.
Whether the move to the new studios contributed to the technical issue is unclear.
