The Golden State Warriors are approaching the eventual swan song of the trio of head coach Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. But whenever they opt to ride off into the sunset, Draymond Green in particular believes the Warriors are set for the future with the next face of the franchise already on the roster in rookie Yaxel Lendeborg.
During a recent episode of his podcast, ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ the Warriors’ veteran forward explained to guest Taylor Rooks why he is all in on Yaxel Lendeborg eventually taking up the mantle as the franchise’s cornerstone.
“We’re gonna talk Rookie of the Year next, that’s my pick. We had open practice, and these are just the types of things I pay attention to. We do the signing, this dude went up in the crowd, and the fans loved it. They were going crazy,” Green said. “I don’t even think he realized what he was doing … he’s in the tunnel signing autographs. Steve [Kerr] has to go get him, literally, Steve has to walk over there and go get him.”

As far as his play on the court, Lendeborg had a strong showing during preseason. He suited up in all five games for the Warriors, averaging 15.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 steals with splits of 56.9 percent shooting from the field, 43.8 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 65 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
