With the Los Angeles Dodgers preparing for the 2026 MLB Playoffs, the team is looking to be as healthy as possible for the postseason, and while Shohei Ohtani gets most of the attention, other players leave their mark on the team. While the Dodgers could face a playoff roster decision with Edwin Diaz, the relief pitcher would get an injury update along with Andy Pages from manager Dave Roberts.

According to Jack Harris of The California Post, Roberts would relay that Diaz “will be active tomorrow” on Friday for the start of the series against the San Francisco Giants. For Pages, he is “very likely” to be active on the upcoming homestand, which starts on Friday and lasts six games.

“[Diaz] had a more encouraging outing in OKC yesterday…Andy Pages is “very likely” to be activated on upcoming homestand,” Harris wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

David Vasseg would report that Roberts said Diaz is expected to meet with Los Angeles at home, as his role will be in “low leverage situations,” with the ability to earn “higher leverage spots.”

“Dave Roberts said Edwin Diaz will meet team in Los Angeles. When he is activated, it will be ‘low leverage' situations and will have to earn higher leverage spots,” Vassegh wrote.

So far this season, the Dodgers outfielder in Pages has recorded a .272 batting average with 21 home runs and 80 RBIs, and while his spot with the team is safe, Diaz is another question. In what has been a frustrating season, only appearing in 16 games and recording a dismal 11.85 ERA, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal wonders if Diaz can make the team's playoff roster. 

“If Diaz, in their estimation, isn't going to be good enough to be part of that, they're not going to take him,” Rosenthal said on “Foul Territory” on Tuesday.

There's no denying that the upcoming low-leverage situations for Diaz will be crucial for the veteran to prove that he can contribute to the Dodgers in the postseason. It remains to be seen when Diaz and Pages officially return.
