It was reported a week ago that right-handed pitcher Devin Williams would return to the New York Mets. On Tuesday, Williams was reactivated off the 15-day injured list.
Furthermore, right-handed pitcher Christian Scott was placed on the 15-day injured list due to left knee inflammation.
All of this is happening just when New York has six games left in the season.

Williams was absent for six weeks due to right shoulder inflammation. He has a 3-2 record, a 4.66 ERA, and 16 saves in 19 appearances.
The Mets are coming off a split series with the Philadelphia Phillies. They are on the verge of finishing in last place in the National League East Division at 71-85.

Williams began his career in Milwaukee from 2019 to 2024, where he flourished. During that time, Williams became a two-time MLB All-Star in 2022 and 2023. He was also named the National League Rookie of the Year in 2020.
Also, Williams was named the National League Reliever of the Year in 2020 and 2023. In 2023, he was part of Team USA that won the silver medal in the World Baseball Classic.
Afterward, the Yankees traded for him, and he played for one season in the Bronx.
The Mets will begin a three-game road series against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. Then, they will close out the season on the road in three games against the Washington Nationals.
