Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver George Pickens reportedly has no desire to leave the organization despite growing trade speculation surrounding his future ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

As the Cowboys (3-5) prepare to bounce back from their 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed Wednesday that Pickens remains happy in Dallas and that the organization has no plans to move him.

“As Dan mentioned, Pickens' name has circulated as a potential trade target in recent weeks as a result of Dallas' 3-5 record, his 2027 free agency and the difficulty of keeping two high-profile receivers on the books,” Fowler wrote. “Pickens had four targets in Sunday's loss to Arizona, fewer than backup tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford. But I've also been told Pickens remains content in Dallas and doesn't want to be moved, nor does Dallas plan to trade him.”

The development comes as Dallas faces uncertainty surrounding its postseason hopes following a disappointing first half of the season. With the trade deadline approaching, Pickens' contract situation has generated questions about whether the Cowboys could consider moving him rather than committing to another lucrative deal.

However, Fowler's reporting suggests both sides remain interested in continuing their partnership beyond the deadline.

Pickens has recorded 39 receptions for 533 yards and two touchdowns through eight games this season, averaging 13.7 yards per reception. His production represents a noticeable decline from his impressive 2025 campaign, when he finished with 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns across 17 games.

The 25-year-old enjoyed his most productive outing of 2026 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5, recording nine receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. However, he managed just two catches for 48 yards on four targets against Arizona on Sunday.

Despite his declining numbers, Pickens remains an important part of Dallas' passing attack alongside CeeDee Lamb. His ability to stretch the field continues to attract defensive attention, even when he isn't heavily involved in the offense.

Fowler also reported that Pickens could eventually command a contract worth approximately $35 million annually, comparable to the projected market for receivers such as Zay Flowers and Drake London.

The Cowboys face another financial decision involving cornerback Joey Porter Jr., whose future could complicate their plans. With NFL teams permitted to use only one franchise tag per offseason, Dallas may have to determine which player to prioritize if long-term agreements remain unresolved.

Meanwhile, ESPN's Dan Graziano reported that other teams are monitoring Pickens' availability, particularly if Dallas suffers another loss and falls to 3-6.

However, Graziano also indicated that he does not expect the Cowboys to seriously consider trading the receiver.

Dallas has already made a significant investment in acquiring Porter and holds just four selections in next year's draft, potentially limiting its ability to make another major deadline move.

For now, Pickens appears likely to remain in Dallas as the Cowboys prepare to face the Indianapolis Colts (2-6) in Week 9. His future beyond this season, however, remains an important question for the organization as it evaluates its long-term roster and financial commitments.
