The Houston Texans are currently gearing up for their upcoming game against the winless Los Angeles Chargers. The Texans are coming off a bye week, which was preceded by a tough home loss at the hands of the New York Giants in overtime the previous week.

CJ Stroud has played well for the Texans at the quarterback position so far this year, and recently, he got a ringing endorsement from sports media personality Colin Cowherd of FS1, who compared him to his 2023 draft classmate, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young.

“There's two levels of franchise quarterbacks… I'd absolutely pay C.J. Stroud whatever I had to. I would struggle to pay Bryce Young what he wants,” said Cowherd, via Herd/Colin Cowherd on X, formerly Twitter.

Stroud knew this season would be something of a “prove it year” for his future with the Texans, and he has largely come through, putting up some monster performances so far this year. However, the Texans' defense and running game have both been major disappointments this season, leading them to their current record well below the .500 mark.

Meanwhile, Young had a hot start to the season for the Panthers but has since come crashing back down to Earth, raising further questions about his viability as a long-term franchise quarterback.

Young and Stroud were taken number one and two, respectively, in the 2023 NFL Draft, and while both have been mired by inconsistency so far in their careers, there's also been a lot to like as well.

In any case, Stroud and the Texans will next hit the field on Sunday vs the Chargers at 4:05 pm ET from Los Angeles.
