While Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has been under scrutiny, co-owner Stephen Jones hinted at more trades. However, Jerry Jones’ bottom line on the trade deadline hinted at a boring outcome — even as the George Pickens buzz heated up.

Jones was fairly to the point, according to a post on X by Joseph Hoyt.

“Jerry Jones talked extensively about trading. Ended it with one specific line: At this particular time, I don’t see anything. Said on @1053thefan.”

Also, the Cowboys will likely keep Pickens, according to another post by Hoyt.

“Jerry Jones said on @1053thefan that they don’t envision being sellers at the deadline. I wrote yesterday that the Cowboys should consider trading George Pickens. My sense right now: they probably should, but they probably won’t at the trade deadline.”

Cowboys mulling over the near future with WR George Pickens

Pickens hasn’t been matching his 2025 numbers. He has 39 catches for 533 yards with a pair of touchdowns. That’s a 1,000-yard pace, but last year he had 1,429 yards with nine scores.

But it’s more about his contract than his production. And Jones said the solution is getting the ball in his hands more, according to another post by Hoyt.

“Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on George Pickens’ snaps being down: ‘He needs the ball coming his way more. There’s a good case — what can you do differently than we did the other day? — that we get the ball in that direction more. We press that.’ ”

That seems like a sideways shot at Schottenheimer. But the offense hasn’t been the biggest problem. The Cowboys are scoring points at an elite level. They just aren’t stopping people or finishing games.

Mike Tomlin of NBC Sports criticized Schottenheimer and the Cowboys for the way they played down the stretch. Schottenheimer clapped back, according to dallasnews.com.

“I think, you know, Mike sees what he sees,” Schottenheimer said. “I saw a group that played hard, but we didn't make the plays we needed to make down the stretch.”
