The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with another injury concern in their secondary as cornerback Joey Porter Jr. works through an ankle issue ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Porter was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice after missing last Thursday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of an illness.

Dallas returned to practice following an extended break after its Week 5 defeat, with the additional recovery time offering injured players an opportunity to make progress. Porter, however, has now appeared on the injury report for three different issues this season.

Dallas surrendered a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round selection to acquire Porter from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Through the first five weeks, he has appeared in just one game.

The 26-year-old missed Pittsburgh's first three games because of a back problem and was ruled out against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4 with the same issue. That designation came during the week the Steelers traded him to the Cowboys. Porter subsequently played 25 snaps in Dallas' win over the Houston Texans before his illness prevented him from facing the Buccaneers.

Porter's availability is particularly relevant with other cornerbacks dealing with injuries. Cobie Durant, who has been dealing with a hamstring issue, and Ameer Speed, recovering from a knee problem, both missed Wednesday's practice. Shavon Revel Jr., meanwhile, participated fully despite his knee issue. If Porter cannot play in Week 6, DaRon Bland and Revel are expected to be Dallas' outside cornerbacks again.

The Cowboys also had several other players miss practice. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown remained out with a hamstring injury after missing time since the season opener, while offensive tackle Drew Shelton also sat out with the same type of injury. Veteran linebacker Von Miller received a rest day rather than missing practice because of an injury.

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (thigh) and left tackle Tyler Guyton (back), both injured against Tampa Bay, benefited from the additional recovery time. Safety Alijah Clark (hamstring), outside linebacker James Houston (shoulder) and left guard Tyler Smith (thumb) were full participants.
