The NFL world watched as Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson lost his temper following the team's Monday night loss to the Buffalo Bills and punched Bradley Chubb in the face. Although Jackson's actions were clearly captured on camera, the exact exchange that prompted the Rams left tackle to become aggressive remained unclear until Chubb himself revealed what happened.

Chubb recently shared what he said to Jackson before the confrontation escalated into a punch.

“I said, ‘We’re gonna see y’all’s ass again,” Chubb said via NFL insider Ari Meirov. “And when we see you again, all that chipping ain’t gonna save you. That TE and guard are not going to save you.’ He said, ‘What’d you say?’ I said, ‘That chip’s not gonna save you. The guard’s not gonna save you.’ And then, boom.”

However, the bright side for Chubb was that he chose not to escalate the confrontation further. The Bills star later added that he could have reacted in several different ways but said that Buffalo brought him to the team to perform his duties and demonstrate leadership.

“If I had reacted differently, I wouldn’t be doing what they brought me here to do,” Chubb said.

Meanwhile, Jackson faced significant consequences for his lack of emotional control. Following the incident, the NFL initially handed the Rams left tackle a two-game suspension for striking Chubb during the postgame confrontation.

However, Jackson received some relief on Wednesday when his suspension was reduced to one game after he appealed the original decision. Hearing officer Derrick Brooks, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association, reviewed the case and agreed to cut the suspension in half.

Ultimately, Chubb's account sheds more light on the verbal exchange that preceded the punch. The Rams offensive lineman and the Los Angeles team were already frustrated following their narrow overtime loss against Buffalo, dropping them to a 2-3 record.
