As the New York Yankees prepare for the playoffs, they are also trying to manage some of the injuries they're dealing with. One of those players is Clarke Schmidt, who has been working through a biceps injury. He's been going through testing, and though it seems like he's progressing, there's a chance that the Yankees consider shutting him down, according to MLB.com.

“Sept. 22 was a ‘better' day for Schmidt, who felt discomfort while warming up Sept. 20 at Arizona. If Schmidt is unable to pitch Sept. 24, the Yankees may shut him down,” MLB.com wrote.

That's not the best news for the Yankees, as Schmidt is an important part of the team. Especially with it being the playoffs, they want to be as healthy as possible. Right now those chances are looking slim, but it all depends on whether he's able to pitch in their final game of the series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Yankees are already going to be without Aaron Judge for their first playoff series as he deals with a calf injury. He is still hoping to come back at some point, but the goal is to be as healthy as possible.

“My goal is to come back as soon as I can,” Judge said. “That's what we're doing right now. If [Boone] says I'm not gonna be ready, I've got no control over that. I've got control over what I can do to try to get back.”

It'll be interesting to see what the Yankees' lineup looks like by the time they get to the playoffs.
