Russell Westbrook is almost the consensus choice for the best player in Oklahoma City Thunder history. Westbrook's MVP, both of his scoring titles, two of his three assist titles, and eight of his nine All-Star nods came with the team that he started his career with. A magnificent career that was spent predominantly with the Thunder just concluded, as Westbrook announced his retirement in the offseason.
Of course, such an influential member of the franchise and such a prolific career deserves to be celebrated. Sam Presti confirmed that while plans aren't set in stone to honor Westbrook's career this upcoming season, that is something that they are looking forward too.
While a celebration inside of the Paycom Center isn't confirmed yet, Westbrook will be honored on Nov. 2 by the OKC Memorial Museum.

While Westbrook was one of the best players in the NBA for nearly all of his OKC tenure, Presti's comments go to show that he meant so much more to the city than just what meets the eye on the basketball court. When Kevin Durant left the team, Westbrook stuck around and embodied everything in meant to be an Oklahoman with his joyful personality and impressive work ethic. Westbrook's career as a whole was special, but it was his time with the Thunder that will be remembered forever.
