The Washington Commanders traveled to London on Tuesday ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Before making the trip across the Atlantic, Washington made a notable roster move by signing former Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Charles Snowden.
Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported Snowden's signing, revealing that he is initially joining Washington’s practice squad but could soon become part of the active roster.
“The #Commanders are signing defensive end Charles Snowden, sources tell @CBSSports. Set to sign to the practice squad for now, but the current expectation is that he’ll end up on the active roster in the near future. Started 18 games for the Raiders the last two years,” Zenitz wrote.
The move to Washington comes after Snowden spent a short period with the Dallas Cowboys during the 2026 offseason and preseason. Snowden initially joined the Dallas earlier this year, but the Cowboys eventually released him with an injury designation before their final roster cuts.
Before his eventful 2026 offseason, Snowden experienced the most productive period of his NFL career with the Las Vegas Raiders. During the 2025 regular season, he appeared in 15 games for Las Vegas and recorded 28 total tackles, including 17 solo stops and 3.0 sacks. He also contributed two passes defended, one of which came through an interception.
Snowden played his college football at the University of Virginia, where he established himself as a key defensive contributor and spent three seasons as a starter for the Cavaliers.
Despite putting together an accomplished college career, Snowden went undrafted during the 2021 NFL Draft. He began his professional career as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears before later spending time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his relatively short NFL journey.
