The Portuguese Football Federation has reportedly called an emergency meeting to resolve the fallout between Cristiano Ronaldo and new Portugal manager Jorge Jesus.

Soccer legend Ronaldo opted to continue his international career after the World Cup. However, following an average performance against Wales, Ronaldo was left on the bench as Portugal beat Norway 2-1.

Ronaldo's replacement, Goncalo Ramos, scored the winning goal and maintained Portugal's momentum in the UEFA Nations League. However, Ronaldo, 41, was unhappy with Jorge Jesus' decision not to bring him on as a substitute. As per reports, Ronaldo was promised at least 30 minutes of playtime after appearing as a substitute.

At full time, after the whistle blew, Ronaldo was seen visibly frustrated as he went straight to the dugout. The Al-Nassr star went straight down the tunnel and didn't acknowledge his Portuguese teammates on their win.

According to Heavy, Ronaldo opted to head back to the hotel after a brief discussion with Jesus, just 30 minutes before their training began. The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) explained Ronaldo's absence by saying that the Malmö club did not have the equipment that Ronaldo needed for his individual training.

Although manager Jesus denied a strain in his relationship with Ronaldo, FPF president Pedro Proença has reportedly changed his schedule to hold emergency talks with the two. Proença was not initially due to arrive in Denmark until Thursday, but he is now allegedly flying straight to Copenhagen for the recently arranged emergency meeting. Portuguese outlet Record reported that the atmosphere has been ‘tense and uncomfortable' because of the above-mentioned situation.
