Coming off a 34-22 Week 5 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Indianapolis Colts could use a bit more firepower around quarterback Daniel Jones. With a home matchup against their division rivals, the Tennessee Titans, coming up, the Colts have added to their tight end room. Per NFL insider Adam Schefter on X (formerly Twitter), Indianapolis has promoted veteran tight end Pharaoh Brown from the practice squad.

“Colts are signing veteran TE Pharaoh Brown off their practice squad and onto their active roster,” Schefter posted on Tuesday afternoon.

A 32-year-old in his ninth season, Brown had most recently been with the Arizona Cardinals before returning for a second stint with the Colts. In addition to Arizona, Brown has played for six other franchises, most of them in the AFC. Last season with Arizona, Brown caught two passes for one yard in seven games played. His best season was with the New England Patriots in 2023, when he played in all 17 games, catching 13 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. Brown set a career high in receptions with the Houston Texans in 2021 with 23, while his two touchdowns with Houston in 2020 are the top mark in his career.

While the veteran will likely serve as a backup to Colts 2025 first-rounder Tyler Warren, Brown does bring a good skill set to the tight end room at Lucas Oil Stadium. Although he only played in seven games with Arizona last year, the ex-Oregon Duck played in 13+ games in each of the five seasons before 2025. If Brown becomes another trusted outlet for Jones, don't be surprised to see a career year in Indianapolis for the unheralded pass catcher.
