Clemson has not been a contender for a national title in some years. Dabo Swinney brought Clemson to four national championship games in five years and won two of them. Still, the Tigers finished 7-6 last year. This year, Clemson is 3-2, but Swinney still thinks the culture in his program is phenomenal.

Now, Swinney's culture may have just secured them a win on the College Football Recruiting trail, as they have brought in a tight end out of Nashville, per Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.

“Class of 2028 TE Wright Martin has Committed to Clemson, he tells me for Rivals. The 6’2 245 TE from Nashville, TN chose the Tigers over Ohio State, Georgia, and SMU,” Fawcett posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The tight end from Christ Presbyterian Academy had multiple offers, including from top programs, Ohio State and Georgia, as well as ACC rivals SMU, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. He spoke about the culture at Clemson as the reason he committed to the program, per Chad Simmons of Rivals.

“Clemson just feels a little different than other schools that I’ve been to, from touring campus to talking to their players and coaches,” Martin said. “It feels like it’s just bigger than football, and that’s something that me and my family value a lot.”

He recently visited Ohio State during their win over Maryland, but had long been leaning towards Clemson.

“I made this decision after talking with my parents and visiting all of my top schools this fall,” Martin said.

The coaching staff at Clemson may have made the difference in the recruiting battle. It was not only Swinney who made a difference, but tight ends coach Kyle Richardson.

“Coach Swinney just has a different energy to him that I love a lot. He’s a very good man and a very good coach. I think he’s one of the best leaders that we have in our culture of football,” Martin said. “Coach Rich, a lot like Coach Swinney, is such a good man and wants to help you become a great man. And also is one of the best coaches around.”

This is the second recruit in the class of 2028 to join the Clemson class. He joins quarterback Trace Hawkins.
