The Colts have fired Chris Ballard after Sunday’s loss to the Titans
On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts lost in embarrassing fashion to the previously winless Tennessee Titans.
On Monday, general manager Chris Ballard lost his job.
In a statement from owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon, she outlined how the “sense of urgency has never been higher” in Indianapolis, and that the “standard” for the Colts is to compete for championships. Irsay-Gordon then indicated that a “change in leadership is necessary to meet that standard.”

Ballard took over in Indianapolis for the 2017 season, after starting his personnel career as a scout with the Chicago Bears, before moving to the Kansas City Chiefs first as the Director of Player Personnel, and later as the Director of Football Operations.
The organization made the playoffs twice during his tenure, losing in the Divisional Round following the 2018 season, and losing in the Wild Card Round after the 2020 season.
Indianapolis had a 72-82-1 regular-season record, and a 1-2 playoff record, under his leadership.
Head coach Shane Steichen remains on the sideline, for now.
