Kenneth Walker is arguably the best running back in the NFL right now. The reigning Super Bowl MVP has had a hot start to the 2026 season in his first year with the Kansas City Chiefs, leading the league in rushing with 537 yards. Walker has been the perfect fit in Andy Reid's offense, while also alleviating a lot of pressure that Patrick Mahomes has had to deal with.
On any given week, Walker could be the main option, or it could be Mahomes. For example, in the season-opening win over the Denver Broncos, it was Walker who was the main piece, rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns on eight yards per attempt. However, in a win over the Indianapolis Colts during the following week, it was Mahomes who was the main option, throwing for nearly 400 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
While Walker is extremely complimentary of Mahomes and his play on the field, he's big with his praise when it comes to the three-time Super Bowl champion's personality off the field.
“I would just say his personality,” said Walker of Mahomes of what people don't know much about when it comes to the star quarterback. “You always see him probably intense in the games and everything, but his personality, the way he jokes around with everybody, the type of person he is off the field. I feel like that's the biggest thing that people don't see, but I feel like that's one of my favorite things about him is how he goes about everything and just his personality in general.”
Mahomes has shown some of his personality off the field with his quirky nature in State Farm commercials — he stars in them with Andy Reid — and during appearances as one of the NFL's highest-profile players.
The 31-year-old quarterback is coming off a serious season-ending ACL injury last year, but has shown no signs of rust. Mahomes has nine touchdowns against two interceptions while leading the Chiefs to a 4-0 record to start the season.
“It's definitely impressive,” said Walker of Mahomes' elite play in return from injury. “Injuries like that can take a long time. But when I watched him in OTAs and training camp, the rehab, the early mornings. He would get up early and be at the facility. Probably one of the first guys at the facility. It's not a surprise because he's put himself in that position to be able to come out and be able to play at a high level the way he is.”
Kansas City is entering the bye week as one of three remaining undefeated teams — the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings being the others — in the NFL. They'll need Walker and Mahomes' complementary play to continue their hot start to the season. They'll take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6 before facing Walker's former team, the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7 in a highly anticipated Sunday Night Football matchup.
Article Continues BelowThe star running back is teaming up with Orgain because he uses their organic plant-based protein powder. Walker details why he started using the product and why it stands out from other protein powder items out there.
“Before the partnership, I’ve always liked Orgain,” said Walker. “It’s been something I can rely on throughout my routine and my day-to-day diet. I always mention I don’t like to eat much. Orgain is real clean, and it helps me get through the day after workout and before workouts.
“They’re plant-based, usually when you get plant-based — I’m not much of a fan when it’s plant-based, and it’s not the best tasting –but Orgain, to me, you can’t even tell that it’s plant-based. It’s also not too chunky when I mix it up and everything. But it’s just perfect. It’s perfect for me. It’s perfect for my routine, and I’m gonna continuously use it.”
