The Los Angeles Chargers are not having a good time on the football field. Head coach Jim Harbaugh watched his team fall to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday evening. As a result, the team is now 0-7 on the 2026 campaign. This is an immensely disappointing start for the Chargers.

Los Angeles had high hopes entering the 2026 NFL season. However, they have looked awful offensively, and Justin Herbert has become one of the worst quarterbacks in the league. This has snowballed into a winless start. But it's not a feat wholly unfamiliar to Harbaugh.

Los Angeles has achieved its first 0-7 start to a season since 2000, according to ESPN Insights. That year, Harbaugh played seven games for the franchise as their quarterback. It was his final season in the NFL. Los Angeles, then based in San Diego, went 1-15 that year.

Harbaugh isn't the only one associated with some less-than-ideal history, though. The Chargers have gone 27 straight drives without a touchdown. This is the longest streak since the 2024 Miami Dolphins, who were coached by current Los Angeles offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

The Chargers were never truly in this game against the Rams. Los Angeles could not overcome their crosstown rival on Sunday. The Rams had fewer total offensive yards, but they made the plays they needed to make.

Where the Chargers go from here certainly remains to be seen. What's clear is that this is a lost season for Los Angeles. And it could have major ramifications for the future of this team. They will look for their first win of the year on November 8 when they take on the Washington Commanders.
