The Chiefs blew an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Broncos, but they were able to drive back into position to try for a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds.

That effort looked like it was successful when Patrick Mahomes flipped a pass to wide receiver Rashee Rice in the end zone with four seconds to play, but the play had been whistled dead due to a false start on right tackle Jaylon Moore. Mahomes was sacked on the next snap and the Broncos celebrated a 28-24 win.

Moore’s movement was minimal enough that Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said at his postgame press conference that he thought the call was incorrect.

“I didn’t see it,” Reid said. “That’s one man’s opinion. I saw him move his head, but I didn’t see a false start.”

Moore also appeared to twitch his leg prior to the snap, which may not change Reid’s opinion but it was enough for a costly penalty that helped send the Chiefs to a second straight loss.
