The Los Angeles Chargers hit a dreadful 0-7 start Sunday, falling 24-9 to the Rams inside SoFi Stadium. This now becomes the worst start in the young NFL career of Joe Alt, who has experienced the playoffs every season under Jim Harbaugh.
Alt peeled back the curtain on what's holding the Bolts back from winning.
“We gotta score points, and it can't just be field goals. It's gotta be touchdowns,” Alt bluntly told reporters after the game.

The Chargers have hit a new low offensive mark. Los Angeles has gone through nine straight quarters without scoring a touchdown. The Rams forced them into field goals along with the Kansas City Chiefs in the last two weeks.
And that stat adds further fuel for the critics of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. The former Miami Dolphins head coach came under fire with the offensive inefficiency during the slow start. Harbaugh insists that he's got full confidence in McDaniel, including not taking away his play calling duties.
But the offense continues to show their inept ways. The Bolts tallied only 295 total yards, including hitting a paltry 64 rushing yards. Quarterback Justin Herbert took two sacks as well, including one to Josaiah Stewart.

Alt was the closest tackle to Stewart during that costly fourth quarter sack. Stewart managed to win the leverage and penetration battle to create discomfort for Herbert.
So far placekicker Cameron Dicker has emerged as the consistent scorer on offense with his foot. But the Bolts and Alt know he can't be the one carrying all the scoring.
