The Boston Celtics introduced some of the new players they acquired over the offseason in a recent press conference, but one was missing. Mitchell Robinson was set to be one of the players introduced at the presser, but the team noted that he would be unavailable because of personal issues.

Days later, Robinson revealed the reason he missed the presser, and it was because his brother had gotten hit by a car.

“I need y'all to go reach out to my brother and send him a prayer. Yesterday around 6 am he was hit by a car. He told me to come make a video because he was in the comments, and I guess he reads what people say,” Robinson said.

Mitchell Robinson confirmed on his IG story that his little brother was hit by a car while going for a run early on Tuesday morning.

Robinson did not attend his Celtics introductory press conference due to his brother's accident.

Robinson had made a Facebook post with a picture of brother on Sept. 15 with the caption “Prayers for my little brother ✝️ my dawg can’t catch a break 🫤.” There wasn't an update on how his brother was doing, but prayers and thoughts are with him and his family during this time.

Robinson agreed to a deal with the Celtics at the beginning of July after playing with the New York Knicks for all of his career. The Knicks didn't have enough money to re-sign Robinson, which is why he found his way to the Celtics in free agency. The center was huge for the Knicks last season and was a key piece in their championship run.

He was specifically important for guarding Victor Wembanyama and had some key stops on him during the series.

Robinson will now be joining a Celtics team that also added Paul George and Mike Conley during the offseason. Even with the departure of Jaylen Brown, they're still expected to be one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference, and they'll be led by Jayson Tatum.
