The Chicago Bears were wowed by veteran QB Case Keenum, who stepped up big time on Monday night. His performance blew the Philadelphia Eagles out of the water, resulting in a 27-7 win.
His numbers are absolutely staggering. Altogether, Keenum completed 24 out of 34 pass attempts for 247 passing yards and two touchdowns. He was also a perfect 11-for-11 against the Eagles' blitz forthe 143 yards.
However, the Pro Football Focus (PFF) only gave Keenum a grade of 55.7 against the blitz, @ilannfl18 posted on X, formerly Twitter.
The Bears had real concerns facing the Eagles. Obviously, the absence of Caleb Williams, as he continues to tend to a recent hamstring strain he sustained against the Minnesota Vikings.
Keenum, 38, is a third-string veteran quarterback whose career dates back to 2012. That year, he went undrafted before the Houston Texans signed him. From there, Keenum played for the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills.
On Monday, Keenum became the third player in NFL history to record 38 or more points, multiple touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown in a 20+-point win. The others were Tom Brady and Drew Brees.
Brees had a standout performance on Nov. 11, 2018, going 22 for 25, throwing for 265 yards, and throwing 3 touchdowns. The New Orleans Saints defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 51-14.
Meanwhile, Brady did it 4 times.
The Bears are now 2-1 and handed the Eagles their first loss of the season. On Sunday, Oct. 4, Chicago will stay home at Soldier Field to play the New York Jets at 12:00 pm CST/1:00 pm EST.
