The standoff between the Pittsburgh Steelers and disgruntled cornerback Joey Porter Jr. came to a close late on Wednesday evening, as he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in return for a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.
However, his teammate Cam Heyward wanted to make it clear that there won't be very much change without him, given that they've already played three games this season without him on the field.
“We've been playing without Joey for the last three weeks,” he said via Chris Adamski on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I wish him the best, but as players on this team, we have to be professional and be ready.”
Not long after being acquired by the Cowboys, Porter explained that he felt disrespected by the Steelers during negotiations.
“Definitely. It was a hard process,” Porter said via Sports Illustrated. “A lot of ups and downs. Definitely felt disrespected. Definitely felt undervalued. But that’s old news now.”

“Man, I was excited. I'm not even gonna lie. I was actually at the movies when I got the call, so I had to leave the movies and went home, but, I am blessed. I am excited,” Porter said. “I called my people and they were excited with me — new chapter, new beginnings, and I'm ready.”
“I’m down with it if they are. I want to finish my career here,” he added.
The Cowboys next face the Texans on Sunday.
