Gambling continues to garner headlines as San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was critical of players interacting with companies of that category. However, Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma had a different stance on the topic.
Wembanyama spoke with reporters on Thursday during one of the Spurs' practices. He declared he will never promote sports betting, being critical of players who do so.
“Absolutely not,” Wembanyama said when asked if he'd ever consider promoting a sports betting website. “I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it. Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”
Kuzma caught wind of those comments and provided his stance on social media. It's clear he wants nuance to be in the discussion.
“Sports betting is correct but for you all that look at LeBron or any other person that are involved in prediction markets are totally misinformed on the subject. calling prediction markets sports gambling is like calling the stock market a casino. you don't have to like it, but it's a regulated exchange where people trade with each other, not a house that profits when you lose. Know the difference,” Kuzma said.

Kyle Kuzma has been expressive about his thoughts on events happening in the NBA. Gambling has garnered serious discussions in the league with many debates from several players. Kuzma and Wembanyama's comments weren't the first, and certainly won't be the last.
In the meantime, Kuzma looks to help the Bucks have a promising campaign in a new era without Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee finished with a 32-50 record last season, settling for 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are above the Chicago Bulls and the Brooklyn Nets while trailing the Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets.
The Bucks will have five preseason contests, starting with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 5 and ending with the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 16. Their regular season commences on the road when they face the Washington Wizards on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. ET.
