How does that old line go again? Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Weep, and you weep alone.

If you squint hard enough, it is perfectly applicable to the situation of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. He went from getting sympathy to being clowned quicker than a Gen Alpha's attention span.

Williams suffered a hamstring injury against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. He was visibly emotional as he was carted off the field, pumping his fist to the adoring crowd at Soldier Field. But after it was revealed that he escaped a major injury and was deemed week-to-week, the narrative changed from respect to, um, roasting.

While it is never cool to make fun of a player after getting hurt, some still criticized Williams, calling him soft. Now, fans are feasting on X over his meme-able moment.

“I'm so happy that Caleb Williams isn’t severely hurt so we can use this meme forever,” said @Yfz84.

Williams went 15-of-26 for 138 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception in their loss to the Vikings. He was sacked three times.

Bears coach Ben Johnson issued a confident remark when asked about Williams' status.

“This guy's a little bit different than the average human being. I said that last night. I'll double down on that. He gets back, and he has in the past, a lot faster than what people can anticipate. So I'm not putting a timeline on this,” said Johnson.

The Bears will battle the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3.
