The Florida State Seminoles officially fired Mike Norvell as head coach after the team suffered a 36-24 Week 9 loss to Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. With the program planning its search for a new head coach in the offense, Brian Kelly made sure to throw his hat in the ring.

During a guest appearance on “College Sports on SiriusXM,” the 65-year-old former LSU Tigers head coach revealed how interested he is in the Florida State job. He claims to have a great history with the Seminoles program, having played against the team numerous times throughout his career. He seems to appreciate the traditions and culture of Florida State as well.

“I've got a great history with Florida State, great games. I know what that's like, the history and tradition of Florida State, playing in that state, and the fan base,” Kelly said. “So, anytime you have an incredibly brand-driven, great tradition and history, there's a want and desire to be part of somebody that has had that success and, certainly, leading that program, from anyone's perspective, would be an honor and privilege.”

Kelly has over 20 years of experience as a head coach. He last coached LSU before being let go midway through the 2025-26 campaign, which led the Tigers to hire Lane Kiffin as his replacement.

As of now, Florida State has not begun its official search to replace Norvell, as there are still four games remaining on the regular season schedule. Until then, the Seminoles will finish the campaign with Rick Stockstill filling in as interim.
