The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday to win the World Series in five games. One headline that has swirled from the moments after Game 5 came from a video of Pat Murphy dissing the New York Yankees. Murphy used different terminology, but in summary, he told Jake Bauers to remember how the Brewers play as a team opposed to the Yankees if he ends up signing with New York in free agency. Brewers star closer Trevor Megill joined The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday and was asked about Murphy's viral moment.

“He feels terrible, Pat. He feels terrible,” Megill said of Murphy. “… I'm sure he will apologize to (Brian) Cashman and all the people over there. He genuinely just feels terrible about it.”

Murphy made the comments right after winning the World Series. He didn't say it to the media either. A video simply picked up the moment between himself and a player. He surely didn't intend for the moment to become a talking point across the MLB world.

Nevertheless, the moment could give the Yankees some additional motivation next season. They have often been mocked for their postseason performance in recent years. Of course, New York has more World Series championships (27) than any other franchise in MLB. The Yankees were once the class of the sport, but they have failed to win a championship since 2009.

They would love to return to their previous heights once again. Perhaps playing more like the 2026 Brewers will help this current version of the Yankees.
