Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy is looking to lead his team to its first World Series championship in franchise history. Milwaukee currently holds a 3-1 Fall Classic lead over the Tampa Bay Rays. Of course big moments lead to pressure-packed situations. Murphy was asked about navigating the pressure while speaking to reporters ahead of Game 5, via Foul Territory.

“I do a lot of self-talk. I'm just like, ‘Hey, you got a job to do, this is not about you. So, if you're nervous, that's about you.'” Murphy said. “‘You have a job to do, you have to serve right now, you have to serve.' You know what I mean? I think if you keep doing that, you'll notice, like, I don't notice a lot of things that go on in the stands… If you don't like pressure, you gotta pick another job, you know what I mean?

“And is it real pressure, or is it more your ego and what other people think and that kind of stuff? When you think about the real jobs in the world here today, people that are going out and going into a fire, you know, saving a building or saving people, or the first responders… You just say to yourself, ‘Wait a minute, this is a responsibility.' I try to keep it as something of service, and that's it.”

There are certainly jobs in this world that offer far more pressure. Murphy is keeping things in perspective.

In any case, Murphy's Brewers will play the Rays at 8 PM ET on Wednesday night in Game 5 of the World Series.
