Jacob Misiorowski has well and truly given it his all for the Milwaukee Brewers, leading them to the franchise's first World Series title. Despite all the clamor for him to appear late in Game 4, it looks as though the Brewers made the right call to save him for Game 5 — with Misiorowski giving the Brewers 5.2 innings of shutout baseball to put Milwaukee in position to win against the Tampa Bay Rays.
After exiting the contest, a report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today mentioned that Misiorowski had suffered a right calf sprain, which would put his status for the rest of the World Series, should it go beyond Game 5, in doubt.
Misiorowski did not appear to have his best stuff on Wednesday, as he struck out only two batters during his time on the mound. Nonetheless, he got the Brewers 17 crucial outs, giving their overtaxed bullpen some time to rest after Milwaukee burned through their relievers in their 12-inning loss in Game 4.
The Brewers' bullpen, of course, ended up protecting the lead. JoJo Romero and Abner Uribe combined to pitch 1.1 innings of shutout baseball, bridging the gap from Misiorowski to closer Trevor Megill, who would end up getting the final six outs of the game.
Misiorowski has been brilliant for the Brewers all season long, and Milwaukee is now a World Series champion after grabbing the victory in a game where their ace got the win.
Article Continues BelowIn four postseason starts in 2026, Misiorowski allowed just four earned runs in 19.0 innings of work, good for an ERA of 1.89. The Brewers won all four of his starts, and this explains why manager Pat Murphy was so adamant in his decision to preserve him for Game 5.
Misiorowski better rest up his calf in preparation for all the jumping he's about to do in celebration of the franchise's first World Series title.
