The Milwaukee Brewers comfortably raced to a 10-0 lead thanks to Christian Yelich and William Contreras igniting things early. And that blowout of the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series sparked a first since July 4: Brandon Woodruff making an appearance.
The relief pitcher entered onto the field during the ninth inning. MLB insider Jon Heyman overheard Brewer fans going crazy over his entrance. One fan also posted the moment Woodruff stepped in.

Woodruff closed things out in the 10-1 rout at Tropicana Field. He forced this ground ball toward second base that ended in a tag out at first.

This moment became a full circle one for “Big Woo” too, as noted by MLB insider and columnist Bob Nightengale.
“Brandon Woodruff made MLB debut at Tropicana Field in 2017. First batter he faced was Corey Dickerson, the Rays’ first-base coach,” Nightengale posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
Article Continues Below“Big Woo” faced uncertainty before the October classic. Woodruff needed to undergo surgery for a second time on his shoulder just three months ago.
He carried a 2.98 ERA and 0.838 WHIP with 47 strikeouts, accomplishing that feat in 45.1 innings on the hill. Woodruff informed reporters heading into the WS that he very much wanted to join this run.
Now he and the Brewers are one victory away from winning their first-ever World Series title. The franchise played in the October classic back in 1982 as an American League franchise, falling to the St. Louis Cardinals that season. Meanwhile, the city of Milwaukee last saw a baseball title in 1957 when the Braves played for the city.
