It has not been a great season so far for Oklahoma football. The last time the Sooners were on the field, Oklahoma was dominated by Georgia, losing 41-13. This week, Oklahoma will face Texas in the 122nd meeting of the Red River Rivalry.

Ahead of the game, Oklahoma coach Brent Venables spoke to the media, and one Texas insider, Tyler Horka, is preparing for a big Longhorn win.

“This Brent Venables press conference feels like a postmortem. Oklahoma plays No. 1 Texas in four days,” Horka posted on X, formerly Twitter.

This is the fifth time that Venables will be the head coach for Oklahoma when facing Texas. Texas has won three of the four games, including each of the last two. Last year, Oklahoma came into the game ranked number six in the nation, while Texas was unranked. Texas won the game 23-6.

This year, Texas comes in as the ranked team, while Oklahoma is not. Venables spoke about an opprotunity to prove they are a good team in the contest, per Kimberly Querry-Thompson of Fox 25.

“Wonderful opportunity, big challenge, but wonderful opportunity for our guys to get to playing our best football. We haven't done that up to this point in time. Been excellent at different times in different moments, but this is an opportunity for us to play our best football. And we're going to need to here this week to have an opportunity to win and certainly thereafter,” OU head coach Brent Venables said.

The coach is convinced that they will be able to put it all together this weekend.

“We have a good football team. We haven't put it all together yet, and at times, we've looked not very good at all. So, everybody's anxious to have an opportunity; winning kind of cures a lot,” Venables added.

Kickoff between the top team in the nation, Texas, and Oklahoma is set for 3:30 pm ET on Saturday.
