The Buffalo Bills may have suffered their first defeat of the 2026 NFL season. However, the latest update on DJ Moore offers some much-needed relief. The star wide receiver aggravated his left shoulder during Sunday’s 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots. He exited in the second quarter and left Buffalo concerned about the availability of its top receiving weapon. However, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that the injury is not considered a long-term issue as of now.
Moore initially visited the medical tent before heading to the locker room. Buffalo subsequently ruled him out for the remainder of the game. The setback is particularly concerning because Moore previously sustained an AC joint sprain in the same shoulder during the Bills’ Week 2 win over the Detroit Lions. Although he returned to play in Week 3, Sunday’s aggravation raises questions about his readiness for Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams. The extended preparation window could help, but his availability remains uncertain.
Article Continues BelowSince entering the NFL as a first-round selection in 2018, Moore has built a reputation as a durable, productive receiver. He surpassed 1,100 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons with Carolina before recording a career-best 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns with Chicago in 2023. Traded to Buffalo ahead of the 2026 season, the 29-year-old arrived to give quarterback Josh Allen another proven perimeter threat.
If Moore misses time, Keon Coleman could see an expanded role. He recorded 116 receiving yards and a touchdown against New England. Khalil Shakir and tight end Dalton Kincaid should also remain important options as Buffalo awaits further clarity on Moore’s condition.
