Recently, it was announced that the Chicago Bears would be starting Case Keenum at quarterback on Monday evening vs the Philadelphia Eagles at home. The news comes amid word that starter Caleb Williams would miss multiple weeks following his Grade 2 hamstring strain vs the Minnesota Vikings last week.
Now, the team has gotten more information on when Tyson Bagent, who was Williams' primary backup before suffering a concussion last week against Minnesota, might be able to return to action.
“Bears say QB Tyson Bagent has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and he has no game status designation for Monday night,” reported NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN later reported on X that it was “Probably too quick a turnaround for MNF, but Bagent a prime candidate to start Week 4 vs. Jets.”
It would certainly be good news for the Bears if Bagent was able to start next week vs New York. As of now, he is expected to be the backup quarterback on Monday Night Football vs the Eagles, per Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.
Case Keenum will certainly have his hands full on Monday against the vaunted Eagles' defensive front, which has gotten off to another strong start to this season. Chicago will likely lean heavily on its defense to make plays and force turnovers against an Eagles offense that has been prone to error at times over the last couple of seasons.
Kickoff between the Eagles and Bears is set for Monday at 8:15 pm ET from Chicago.
