The Chicago Bears are planning to start quarterback Caleb Williams for Sunday's Week 6 road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons after the former No. 1 overall pick missed three consecutive games with a hamstring injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday that Williams is expected to return after completing a full week of practice without experiencing any setbacks.

“He’s back: The Bears are planning to start Caleb Williams after he missed the past three games due to a torn hamstring but went through a full week of practice this week without any setbacks, per NFLN and ESPN,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Williams suffered the injury during Chicago's 9-3 Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, forcing the Bears to navigate the following three games without their starting quarterback.

His expected return comes at a critical point for Chicago, which is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Week 5.

The Bears also committed five turnovers, throwing three interceptions and losing two fumbles in a performance that highlighted their offensive struggles without Williams.

The defeat dropped Chicago to 3-2, adding pressure on head coach Ben Johnson and his offense to regain consistency as the team approaches the middle of its schedule.

Williams' return provides the Bears with an opportunity to stabilize their passing attack and avoid consecutive losses.

Chicago (3-2) will face Atlanta (2-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX, with Williams expected to make his first start since Week 2.
