Ben Johnson had an optimistic yet cautious update on Caleb Williams' injury following the Chicago Bears' Week 2 contest.

Williams suffered a hamstring injury during the Bears' clash with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. It ended up ruling him out for the remainder of the game, as Chicago ultimately lost 9-3 against Minnesota at home.

Johnson spoke with media during Monday's press conference. While he won't say that Williams will recover in time for the Week 3 matchup, he gave fans a bright message about his timetable to get back on the field.

“He's right now working through every avenue that he's got available to get back on track here. We'll see what that looks like. Here's what I know. This guy's a little bit different than the average human being. I said that last night, I'll double down on that. He gets back – he has in the past – a lot faster than what people can anticipate and so I'm not putting a timeline on this. We’re going to say week to week. He's going to attack this with everything that he knows,” Johnson said, per reporter Courtney Cronin.

What lies ahead for Bears amid Caleb Williams' injury

It's great news for the Bears that Caleb Williams' hamstring injury is not season-ending. However, Ben Johnson needs to adjust if the star quarterback can't make a quick return.

Chicago impressed many after scoring 50 points in their season opener against the Carolina Panthers. However, they regressed down to just three points against the Vikings as the season remains early.

Before going down with the injury, Williams has completed 36 out of 55 passes for 407 yards and two touchdowns and one interception while rushing for two touchdowns. He will hope the injury doesn't hold him back from achieving wins with Chicago this season.

The Bears will look to bounce back in their next matchup, remaining at home. They host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 as kickoff commences on Sept. 28 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
