The Bears activated defensive lineman Shemar Turner off the reserve/physicallyk unable to perform list, the team announced Tuesday.
His 21-day return-to-practice window was set to expire Wednesday.
Turner’s return is perfect timing for the Bears with starting defensive end Montez Sweat suspended for two games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Turner will take Sweat’s spot on the 53-player roster.
Turner, a second-round pick in 2025, tore the ACL in his right knee last season. He had moved from defensive tackle to defensive end in the Week 5 off week last season.
In five games as a rookie, he totaled six tackles, including two for loss.
