When Philadelphia Eagles fans exited Lincoln Financial Field after watching their team battle the Los Angeles Rams in September of 2025, they were in complete shock and doing their best to process Jordan Davis' game-ending blocked field goal/61-yard touchdown run. They were in disbelief this past Sunday as well, but this time it was for very different reasons.
The Bird Gang struggled to understand how Philly could blow a 10-point fourth-quarter lead and leave their home stadium with a 24-20 loss to the Rams. Tempers were already rising after last Monday's poor performance against the Chicago Bears, so one could imagine what the mood was following a collapse in The Linc.
People vented their frustrations while making their way to the parking lot. There was unsurprisingly plenty of Nick Sirianni criticism, and it came with a Philly punch.
“What's happening at halftime?” one man asked, per CBS Philadelphia. “Are we eating meatball subs?”

The Eagles (2-2) had a myriad of injuries that complicated their path to victory. Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith, Zack Baun and Dallas Goedert were all ruled out before the Rams clash, and Saquon Barkley, Quinyon Mitchell, Jonathan Greenard and Tank Bigsby all suffered injuries during the game. Overcoming such an avalanche of adversity is always difficult, especially when facing the preseason Super Bowl favorites. Fans have no patience for excuses, however.
Facing fourth-and-goal at LA's 2-yard line with about eight minutes remaining in the game, Sirianni opted to go for the touchdown. Jalen Hurts could not link up with Darius Cooper, who had already scored twice, and the revitalized Rams took over possession. Matthew Stafford led two 10-play scoring drives, as Los Angeles flipped the script on Philadelphia.
The Eagles failed to regain their bearings, putting together an ugly last series that included two Hurts sacks and two incompletions. One should be able to understand why Sirianni tried to land a knockout blow on the Rams on fourth-and-goal, but the play-calling, execution and preparation are much harder to justify.
This squad has endured these rough patches before and has even imploded, but it usually emerges with a playoff berth and deep roster. Is Philly nearing its actual breaking point, or is this merely another turbulent stretch before Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni stabilize the situation? The fan base is feeling quite skeptical after witnessing another missed opportunity.
With home matchups against the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1), Carolina Panthers (2-2) and Dallas Cowboys (2-2) on the horizon, there is a chance The Linc becomes a combustible environment by Halloween. Or, the Eagles can assuage concerns with a torrid three-week stretch. The Philly experience continues.
